Entry Rules

  • Wines and spirits (domestic & international) produced by a professional winery or distillery, as bottlings for public, commercial markets (domestic and/or international).
  • There is no limit to the number of wines or spirits that may be entered.
  • Wine classes include:
    - Varietal (75% and more of one variety)
    - Varietal blends – the % of each component must be specified
    - Fruit
    - Fruit blends – the % of each component must be specified
    - Fruit flavored
    - Sparkling
    - Dessert
    - Fortified
    Riesling classes will be defined according to the International Riesling Foundation scale (drinkriesling.com).
    Wines classified as “Ice Wine” must be produced using the process as defined by the TTB (or VQA equivalent). Wines produced from grapes not frozen on the vine must be identified as "Frozen Off the Vine".
  • Spirit classes include:
    - Vodka/Neutral Sprits (includes Shochu, etc.)
    - Gin/Botanicals (includes Absinthe, Aquavit, Ouzo, etc.)
    - Whiskey
    - Rum
    - Brandy
    - Tequila (includes Agave based spirits)
    - Pre-Mixed Cocktails
    - Bittered Spirits
  • Technical chemistry required for each entry:
    - Sugar must be expressed in grams/Liter.
    - Alcohol must be expressed as % by volume.
  • Entry fee: $55.00 US per entry
  • Bottles per entry:
    - 750 ml – 4 bottles
    - 200 ml and less – 6 bottles
    - Distilled Spirits – 2 bottles

  • Non-US wineries and distilleries - all wineries and distilleries outside of the United States must register with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and receive an 11 digit facility registration number. You may register at https://www.access.fda.gov/. If you need assistance in registering, please call FLIWC at 1-800-785-2135.
  • Customs, broker and transport Fees
    All related fees are the sole responsibility of the winery. The FLIWC will not accept shipments that require payment on delivery or customs fees. Do not ship wines or spirits until you have a COLA Waiver.
