Maureen Bayer fell in love with wine while taking her first wine course in Florence, Italy. After returning home to Rochester Institute Technology (RIT), she continued her studies in wine education.  After graduating from RIT with her degree in Business Management, Maureen moved to St. Helena, California to attend the Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA) Accelerated Wine and Beverage Program. While attending school in California, she earned her certificate as a Certified Wine Professional from the CIA and a Certified Specialist of Wine by the Society of Wine Educators. In the fall of 2014, Maureen became a Certified Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers. She worked as the sommelier and manager at Via Girasole Wine Bar and Pittsford Wine and Spirits on Schoen Place in Pittsford, NY until she joined the New York Wine and Culinary Center in 2016 as the Beverage Manager. Maureen is currently working towards her Wine and Spirits Education Trust Diploma and has successfully completed Units 1,2, & 4.
