Wine Judge

David Falchek became the executive director of the American Wine Society, the oldest and largest organization of wine consumers in the United States, in 2016. Prior to that he served two terms as director of membership services on the AWS board. David began writing about wine in the early 1990s in the Finger Lakes and his work has appeared in wine trade publications such as Vineyard & Winery Management, Beverage Media, and Practical Winery and Vineyard and Edible Finger Lakes. He frequently judges regional, national and international wine competitions. David is a trained sensory panelist with the Pennsylvania Wine Quality Initiative. Since 2010, he has been an elector for the Vintner’s Hall of Fame in Napa Valley. In 2011 he was dubbed one the most influential wine Tweeters by alawine.com. David has spoken at the American Wine Society National Conference on Meritage, Cru du Beaujolais and Loire and is active in the AWS Wine Judge Certification Program. David is an adjunct instructor at Luzerne County Community College teaching bartending and bar management.
